xrandr strange behavior on arm base X11

Several of xrandr commands, which otherwise work on other architectures
such as amd64 for NetBSD 8.0_RC1 are yielding strange errors on Raspberry
Pi 2, with base X11.

$ uname -a
NetBSD pi 8.0_RC1 NetBSD 8.0_RC1 (RPI2) #0: Sun Jun 17 16:30:05 IST 2018 root@pi:/usr/src/sys/arch/evbarm/compile/RPI2 evbarm earmv7hf Cortex-A7 r0p5 (Cortex V7A core) NetBSD

$ xrandr --output default --scale 0.9x0.9
xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default
X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for
operation)
  Major opcode of failed request: 141 (RANDR)
  Minor opcode of failed request: 26 (RRSetCrtcTransform)
  Value in failed request:  0x17a
  Serial number of failed request: 20
  Current serial number in output stream: 21

Would appreciate help. Generally I am not too ken to try pkg X11, unless
that's the only option left.

Mayuresh
