  Do you refer to the ld.so.conf stuff? I am not that familiar with the
  meaning of ld.so.conf and ELF. I did only notice that /etc/ld.so.conf
  is of *no* use if you need a.out libraries at a different place than
  ld.so (aout) thinks. I had to create /emul/aout/etc/ld.so.conf to get
  my non-standard directory searched... Anyone else that had problems with
  old aout shared libraries with 1.6?
