Re: i2c devices on TSC
Hi,
> Ah, but there’s one enhancement to be made. spdmem, well, not all of those will be present, and we don’t want to see “not configured” messages for the ones not there. I’ll mull it over. A flag indicating “discover” is probably in order.
Good point - this is particularly noticable for removable or optional
components like memory. If we have i2c direct match, we will end up in
the attach routine. For pcf8574, I just printed a message and stopped
the attach, but that's also not perfect. We'd see something in dmesg
like:
[ 1.000000] pcf8574io0 at iic0 addr 0x38: GPIO
[ 1.000000] pcf8574io1 at iic0 addr 0x39: read failed
[ 1.000000] pcf8574io2 at iic0 addr 0x3d: GPIO
when the one at address 0x39 is not installed.
but maybe that is OK if it's not an error? It's also relatively simple to
add. Alternatively, the discover flag for the match routine could make it
completely silent.
Regards,
Julian
