Looking closer, I'd even vote for a default build without ssl. Otherwise,
every console(1) call will attempt to buuild an ssl connection first,
resulting in a ~5 sec delay on a ss10 (2x SM71). @work, I found it handier
to just ssh to the conserver machine.

And another one: When I enable hw handshaking on a conserver port, it comes
up with !RTS. So far, I have found no way to change this. Since a
connection with tip(1) works just fine, I'd rule out a spif(4) issue.
