If you have some quantitative benchmarks that would be intersting on
port-xen.  A quick look shows bash taking much more "SIZE" but only
about 5% more "RSS".

I run a number of xen domUs, but for the purpose of building packages
and testing, so I'm running what machines I care about run, or will run
later.  I am not completely free of i386, but the number of such
machines has dropped a fair bit, and the remaining ones don't do
anything gui-ish.

Indeed; it's a tough call if the option should be default on or not.
Nobody has put in the effort to make it a split package, not even the
maintainer!
