bob v0.99.x and wip package now available
Hi,
Thanks everyone for the patience with me spamming various updates over
the last few months, especially if you have absolutely no interest in
bob. This will be my last announcement mail for it.
As you may have seen, bob is now production ready, and my daily builds
that post to pkgsrc-bulk@ are now fully migrated over to it, as well as
my development sandboxes.
As such I have moved to v0.99.x release candidates, and there is now a
wip/bob for testing. My intention is that there will no longer be any
breaking changes, and v1.0 and an import into pkgsrc will happen in due
course.
If you do have any interest in using this tool at any point in the
future, I would urge you to take a look now to ensure that any
particular use-cases are covered, as once 1.0 lands I will be extremely
reluctant to make any changes that have even the remote possibility of
affecting any existing users.
v0.99.x includes a large number of changes to the configuration file
format in preparation for it being set in stone, so if you are upgrading
from a previous release I would recommend starting with a fresh config
and migrating your local changes over. I have now published the exact
live config I am using for my daily SmartOS builds here:
https://github.com/jperkin/bob/blob/main/examples/smartos-trunk.lua
so you can get a good feel for what it looks like. I will shortly add
the live macOS config too.
As for new features in 0.99.x, the main ones are:
* "bob publish" for publishing reports, packages, and emails.
* "bob diff" for comparing different builds (used in the new report).
* "bob log" for easily viewing build failure logs.

Thanks!
