Re: pkgsrc still messed-up
Even if I build emacs without the gtk dependencies, on emacs startup in
daemon mode, I will get the ancient gtk bug message and emacs refuses
to start.
I'm running emacs30-30.1nb1 in daemon mode in an old laptop from
binary packages at
https://cdn.NetBSD.org/pub/pkgsrc/packages/NetBSD/amd64/10.1/All
on 10.1.
I have no issues appart of the mentioned bug.
I don't know what problem do you have with your setup. Better to start
a new thread.
I would prefer to use binary packages in another laptop, but the
intel drm driver is giving me problems from time to time so I have
to compile emacs without gtk on this machine. As I said before, I don't
really care about the toolkit, I just need graphics support in emacs, and
right now that means compiling with x11 support.
This bug has been around for ever, I think that's the main reason
other OSes keep lucid or motif versions among their emacs binary
packages. I remember using emacs-lucid in debian for this reason.
As I said it would be nice to have at least one of these versions
as a binary package.
