I always build emacs with xaw, it has less dependencies and the
differencies aren't noticiable for me, the way I use emacs it's
rare an external window pops up using the toolkit for selecting
files &c, and svg images are common and the dependencies are usually
installed anyway, so I second the proposition.

But I'm posting to the list to clarify that you can run emacs as
a daemon with any toolkit. The problem is with gtk. There is an
ancient bug that makes the application be killed if the X server
dies.  I don't think this will happen with motif for example. And
the small number of motif users nowdays could ask to have a motif
package as well.

It would be nice to have at least one of them for users of the
emacs server in the X environment.
