Static website generator for an academic project website

I am looking for suggestions for a framework to use to build a website for
an academic project, with following requirements:

- Static web pages, no cgi or web services etc

- Simple contents like an 'About' page, Installation guide, Documentation,
  (Howtos, papers, tutorials etc. - some may be links to pdfs, some may be
  html), Contacts etc. Not much of a rich graphics, animations etc. at
  least to begin with.

- Maintainability. Better if maintained through text specification that
  can be under revision control.

- Learning a bit of markup or Python if needed is ok. But should not
  require skills with some specific programming language.

- Would be nice if there is some theme collection to choose from, so that
  look and feel design does not incur too much of an effort.

- Would be great if available in pkgsrc.

- Would be great if it can work with bozohttpd (or lighttpd).

Please do suggest.
