It seems there are two ways to get an X server on macs:

  https://www.xquartz.org/ (2.8.5, released 2023-01-26)

  x11/modular-xorg-xquartz (1.20.99.1.20210408)

In the latter's DESCR it says:

  Together with supporting libraries and applications, it forms the
  X11.app that Apple has shipped with OS X since version 10.5.

but Apple does not ship X11.app with modern versions of macOS.


1) What's going on?

   - Can anyone explain the relationship bettween xquartz.org and our
     package?
   - Is our package overdue for an update?
   - Is xquartz.org healthy (it seems not)?
   - Should we do anything (I don't mean pre-branch)?

2) Obviously I should adjust DESCR to stop saying Apple ships X11.App.
Any contrary opinions (as always, with rationale)?
