Trouble building firefox on i386

Hi

I fail to build www/firefox on i386 in because of an usual error:
/usr/bin/ld: ../../toolkit/library/build/libxul.so: undefined reference to `__at
omic_load'  

Searching the web shows this have been reported ad nauseam as a clang problem. The only workaround I found proposed is to use gcc. Does someone have ideas about this problem?
