I can accept that profile version migration code can go wrong and require manual fixing sometimes but I don't think its the norm. If you keep having to do it that's a little worrying. Do you try and share a profile between ESR (either current ESR or older) and release? That won't work. That might also explain why you have to keep manually fixing things up.
