More detail:  I have the "Print" control icon in the navigation bar.
If you click the icon, it remains highlighted and no other controls will
work (switching tabs, etc.).  If one switches to a different workspace
and then back again, the Firefox window will be blank.  Only "Destroy"
will close the window, but the firefox process remains running.  It will
exit when sent SIGTERM, however.

Since I'm resigned to reverting anyway, I'm giving firefox-48.0.2 (the
last pre-49.x version in pkgsrc) a whirl.  Downloading and building now.
