Yeh.  The i386 build was masked by lang/gcc45 breakage:

  http://us-east.manta.joyent.com/pkgsrc/public/reports/Linux/trunk/i386/20160119.1015/gcc45-4.5.3nb7/build.log

while the x86_64 build was failing with the gcc45 package:
