Having added GCC_REQD=4.6 to libreoffice4/Makefile the builds now die silently

This does not shows where it stopped... as libreoffice always builds in paralel.

Anyway here does not builds too just because libreoffice needs boost 1.55 and the boost in NetBSD7 is 1.57..

If you need libreoffice, you can build with cvs up -r pkgsrc-2014Q4 that builds, installs and works libreoffice 4.3.5.2...

anyway you can install all the gnome using binary install pkg_add by setting PKG_PATH on a clean I386  netbsd6.

export PKG_PATH="http://netbsd.k1.com.br/netbsd6/packages/All
than...
pkg_add bash gnome desktop-gnome libreoffice DVDStyler
edit the /etc/rc.conf for start gdm, dbus, hal.....
kind of....

devpubd=YES

#user daemons
smartd=YES
dbus=YES
hal=YES
avahidaemon=NO
mdnsd=NO
gdm=YES
cupsd=YES
slpd=NO
famd=YES

and you have all the gnome, libreoffice, modular xorg... all built from scratch
built for i486 (no mmx) so it works out of the box on old notebooks,

If you prefer Netbsd7,export PKG_PATH="http://netbsd.k1.com.br/netbsd7/packages/All

I am working in monodevelop now,
