There was a power outage of 39 minutes.  

I shutdown the computer rather than wait for the OptiUps battery to run all the 
way down.
        
On rebooting later, I booted a NetBSD USB stick installation for the specific 
purpose of testing "make show-depends-options".

It worked.

Normally a make target such as "show-depends-options" is something in the 
Makefile and not a separate file named for the target.

I hope to update the modular Xorg and also build hplip for my printer, on 
NetBSD 6.1 amd64 and perhaps also i386.

With modular Xorg, I will keep a version of xorg.conf, with a modified name, 
with 
Driver "vesa"
just for a fallback in case the intel driver doesn't work at all.
