www/elinks and "elinks-root-exec"
Hello everybody,
I love installing some "base" packages on all my NetBSD systems. When I've not
enough time to compile them, I just fire up pkg_add (or pkgin) and install the
binary packages.
Most of them are ok (tmux on pre-HEAD, rsync, mc, etc) but "elinks", my
favourite console web browser, comes with a pre-configured "no root exec"
option, so root cannot use it.
Even if I've got my own compiled binary, ready for my systems, I'm asking if it
is that dangerous to use it as "root", and change the default configuration to
allow execution as root.
As far as I know, it is not affected by known exploits.
Just my two cents :)
Stefano
