What is the problem you're seeing?  "No longer working" doesn't give
much of an idea...

That said, I've sometimes had problems with the path not being set
properly.  Try putting

        export PATH=$PATH:/usr/pkg/xorg/bin

or

        export PATH=$PATH:/usr/X11R6/bin

or

        export PATH=$PATH:/usr/X11R7/bin

(depending on where your X lives) in /etc/rc.conf.d/gdm and see if that
helps.
