Re: glib 2.18 instability

I tracked down the problem to /usr/pkg/share/mime/packages/*.xml being 
completely corrupt. Downgrading to glib 2.16 got rid of the crashes, but 
apps still weren't behaving properly. I ended up looking at the mime 
package *.xml files and they were somehow full of a bunch of null entries, 
so I copied them from a working machine, ran sudo update-mime-database 
/usr/pkg/share/mime, and all is well now.

Any ideas why this is happening?
