openssh problems

My system:

NetBSD ultra 2.0 NetBSD 2.0 (BLORG) #0: Sun Jan 16 22:01:53 CST 2005  
root@ultra:/sys/arch/i386/compile/BLORG i386

I did a fresh update to pkgsrc-2006Q1 this morning to see if this would
fix it.

I'm trying to update openssh, tried using both the pkgsrc version of
openssl and the 'built in' version.  After I type in my password, it
just drops my connection, on the console I get:

Apr 10 13:15:42 ultra sshd[1562]: setuid(500): Operation not permitted

(I'm uid 500).

I'm kinda stumped here.
