 As of devel/cmake version 3.28.2 I can no longer reproduce this hang,
 and the cmake package once again builds properly (for me). This may
 have been an upstream bug that got fixed, though I don't see anything
 directly relevant in the release notes. Unless someone else has seen
 the same breakage, this PR can probably be closed.
