Is this still happening? (No particular reason to think it's been fixed, but it's been a while) If so, is it against pkgsrc or native fontconfig? And do you have any idea why it's trying to link against the static libfontconfig?
It's not happening, on either the one netbsd-8 system I'm still running, nor on the Alpha system on which this issue originally was observed.
