 ...that is not the best approach because any automated upgrade will
 send it right back to 1.3 (or these days, 1.7).
 
 Given that the old rrdtool continues to hang around and not depending
 on X is a reasonable reason to keep it indefinitely, it is probably
 time to set up a switch for this.
