Ok, I understand the request, but this would require completely changing
pkgsrc and all the surrounding tools, so while there could be benefits in
changing what metadata we store and the format used, completely rewriting
everything just is not practical at this time.  This kind of project is
definitely something that interested parties should pursue in a fork.
