 I came across an upstream patch from Mozilla that addresses this issue

 I applied the patch to www/cliqz (which was also failing build due to
 the same issue, it is based on Mozilla Firefox) and was able to build
 successfully in NetBSD/i386.
 
 I think the patch can be applied to www/firefox and it should address
 the build failures.
