 Thanks for your advice, I increased RAM from 1GB to 1.5 and the
 compilation went on indeed. There was only one bug more at the install
 stage:
 
 > => Checking file-check results for kicad-4.0.4nb9
 > sh: cannot create /usr/pkgsrc/cad/kicad/work/.error/check-files-prefix: directory nonexistent
 > *** Error code 2
 
 I had to create the work/.error folder manually and after that all was
 completed, kicad is now working.
