 I made a mistake. I was using an unmaintained git repo[0]. I am now
 using the NetBSD git repo[1].
 
 Go 1.9 installed successfully on Ubuntu 17.10 dev release with pkgsrc
 trunk branch commit 02d62fbfb0.
 
 I'm in the process of trying Go 1.9 install on rpi2 with Ubuntu 16.04.
 It's slow going but when it's done I'll share results.
