 Now it works just fine.  Must have been PoM/sunspots/swamp gas/etc.
 
 Will re-check after further updates.  In the meantime, rebuild
 modular-xorg-server w/o "debug" option so it'll be less SPAM-y, but
 keep debugging symbols.
