building xemacs with gcc5, build hangs at

    ./xemacs -nd -batch -l /tmp/pkgsrc/editors/xemacs/work/xemacs-21.4.24/src/../lisp/update-elc.el

In https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=75028, the problem is diagnosed as
being due to a compatibility issue with PIE, and indeed, adding -fno-pie to
CFLAGS resulted in a succesfull build.
