 After some debugging it looks like a locale bug and demo(graphics) fails 
 using
 
 LC_ALL="es_ES.UTF-8" R
 
 but it works with
 
 LC_ALL="es_ES.ISO8859-15" R
 
 Can you please test if this works on your system ?
