 so I get further with grabbing gcc-multilib g++-multilib (BTW, we are building g95 without
 multilib support), and we should probably advise this to linux users in general,  but still
 fail for missing crti.o, when it is in /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/crti.o.
 
 joerg says that gcc's -B flag will help it find stuff under this directory, but it's
 ignoring CFLAGS during build.
 
 can I use some hack to force it to have this flag?
