 Thanks for the tip!  The fault address seems to be in "libcurses".
 
 First address in backtrace:  0x00007f7ff7819403
 Longest matches in 'pmap' output:

 I installed the debug sets (now that I have space to do so), but no
 additional information was forthcoming.
