 I still think it's something to do with installing a package while in
 the process of working on another one, i.e. recursive pkgsrc Makefile
 usage.
 
 For example
 cd /usr/pkgsrc/audio/taglib
 make clean
 make
 
 works for me. Can you please try that, just to make sure we're seeing
 the same issue?
