I didn't see the option in my xscreensaver-demo, but I did see a
"visualID: default" in my .xscreensaver. Should I put GL instead of
 default to try it?

I can however run gl-using xscreensaver modules fine,
i.e. /usr/pkg/libexec/xscreensaver/glhanoi, but I'm using an ATI GPU,
not an Intel one, and am using native-X11, not from pkgsrc
 (netbsd-6/amd64 using pkgsrc-2012Q1 packages I believe).
