 math/fftw now fails with
 
 configure: error: cannot compile a simple Fortran program
 
 after again not finding any suitable compiler. f2c is still present and 
 is not detected.
 
 This seems to be a more general problem. Either someone should rename 
 this PR, or I can open another one.
