The current problem could have been generated by a bias of myself trying to
compile many programs at a time.

libgtk-x11-2.0.la was completely broken and resintalling libglade and or
gtk2 did not help, even after 'make clean clean-depends' on both (I don't
 have this file anymore).

BEYOND (or due to?) the incorrect .la file generation, I've faced two more
problems: gtk2+-2.24.8 was not copying (from the 'work' dir)
 libgtk-x11-2.0.a into /usr/pkg/lib nor linking libgtk-x11-2.0.so there.

I discovered that by overwriting libgtk-x11-2.0.la with an adapted version
from gtk2+-2.24.6.tgz I downloaded and trying to compile gtk-dependent
 packages (libglade, emacs, gmplayer, etc.).
With a proper .la file, the packages complained that there was no
 libgtk-x11-2.0.
I've checked that both libgtk-x11-2.0.a and libgtk-x11-2.0.so were at
gtk2/work dir and after linking the .so and copying the .la file to
 /usr/pkg/lib everything worked smoothly.

To not live with this mess I updated pkgsrc through CVS, which provided me
gtk2+-2.24.9, that built fine, with no errors to gtk2-dependent packages.

I consider this bug 'dead' or 'closed' as I won't be able (or willing) to
reproduce it and as it is already fixed by a newer version of gtk2.

 Thanks.
