 I agree on gcc is huge, gcc is painful and gcc is full of bugs. And
 yes the code might be perfectly legal. But even if not, we can't change
 half of the network code. So let us try with -fno-strict-aliasing on 
 ftp.c then. Other suggestions besides turning to another compiler ? ;-)
