 Hi,
 
 I retested with the Sun ld before GNU ld in my path (though the
 output from the configure script suggested it was using Sun ld
 anwyay), but that didn't make any difference.  (It's not a big deal
 for me if we can't figure this out, I was just trying to duplicate a
 different problem I was encountering on NetBSD on another platform.
 But I can certainly continue testing.)
