 Hi,
 
 I verified that:
 
 - the problem exists (run into the same trouble on my macppc system and 
 found the PR)
 - the patch works and helps to get around
 
 However, the .if .. .endif does not work on my system:
 
 # uname -a
 NetBSD  5.99.38 NetBSD 5.99.38 (macmini) #1: Thu Jul 29 13:51:11 CEST 
 2010  root@:/usr/obj/sys/arch/macppc/compile/macmini macppc
 
 the statements inside are not triggered.
