 Thanks, that fixes the worst of the problems - or does once I realised
 that your mailer evidently converted the unicode character from unicode
 (UTF-8 or however it was encoded) into ISO-2022-JP - so the patch didn't
 match what was actually in the file being patched (nor the intended checksum).
 But that was trivial to fix.
 
 That seems to have fixed the "interactive" build problem (it no longer
 stops to ask what codeset it should use) and also makes sure that the
 files in the PLIST that weren't being installed do get installed.
 
 The two files that were listed as installed, but missing from the PLIST,
 are still a problem however ...

 ERROR: The following files are in /usr/pkg but not in the PLIST:
 ERROR:         /usr/pkg/share/emacs/site-lisp/wl/wl-e21.el

 Stop.
 
 That one is most likely fixed by simply adding the files to the PLIST.
