        A temporary work-around was suggested by a helpful person named 
 "dh_" in irc.freenode.net#pkgsrc and it gets things working (note 
 that I extracted pkgsrc.tar.gz to the /usr/pkgsrc/ directory):
 
                cd /usr/pkgsrc
                cvs update -D20100222 in www/p5-libapreq2
 
        This downgrades the www/p5-libapreq2 package from v2.12 to v2.08, 
 which appears to be just fine. The 2.12 version is included with 
 pkgsrc-2010Q1 (stable).
 
        A special thanks to dh_ for this suggestion -- you have saved me a 
 lot of time and hassle here.
 
        Hopefully v2.12 will be working in the next official release of 
 pkgsrc.  Please reply on this topic if someone would like me to try 
 it on one of my test systems, even if it is in pkgsrc-current 
 (preferred so that I can test it with my meta package) or wip.
