pkgsrc makes a silly assumption on linux that GID will be root, in some distos
this is not the case, which causes bootstraping issues.
Perhaps bootstrap scripts should check with /etc/passwd to get the actual GID
will be root.
One example of this problem is installing pkgsrc on SSD/Linux from
http://www.plathome.com/products/microserver/ssdlinux/
Which has root/wheel as uid/gid for superuser.

Download a linux distro such as SSD/Linux and attempt to bootstrap pkgsrc on it.
