 After doing a fresh NetBSD 5.0RC4 installation and then installing
 sysutils/dbus from the 2009Q1 branch, I have not been able to
 reproduce the behavior. The PR was issued after installing the
 *pre-compiled* package (2008Q4) as found on ftp.netbsd.org. So either
 
 - there really was a bug in the source package and the problem has
 already been fixed,
 - the binary package on the FTP server is buggy,
 - pkg_add has a problem with that binary package, or
 - it was a problem related to RC3.
 
 As the problem does no longer persist (at least when compiling from
 source) I propose to close this PR. (However, it still would be
 worthwhile to see whether pkg_add was the culprit.)
