 Hi,
 
 the FreeBSD port of perl58 has a patch related to selection of
 appropriate libraries for threading, apparently the method
 embedded in perl58 is the "old" method.
 
 BTW, I have an update to perl 5.10.0 lined up to commit after the
 present pkgsrc freeze is over, there's a chance the perl guys
 have adopted this fix in the updated version.
