>Description:
When building font/fontconfig with modular X11, the search path given to
configure is

${PREFIX}/share/ghostscript/fonts

but fontconfig has no dependency on fonts/ghostscript-fonts. The other path
configured by default seems to be either

${X11BASE}/lib/X11/fonts

or

${LOCALBASE}/lib/X11/fonts

(which is the same for modular X11). In any case, this directory is empty, and
I see no package that would provide standard fonts for modular X11 to be
installed under LOCALBASE.

This leaves you with an empty font cache, and applications using fontconfig
(i.e. all GTK2 apps via pango) come up with no text whatsoever.
>How-To-Repeat:
install fontconfig with modular X11
>Fix:
There are several possibilities:

- Make a dependency to package fonts/ghostscript-fonts, to provide at least a
basic, albeit ugly set of fonts.

- Add another option to specify additional font search paths.
  CONFIGURE_ARGS+='--with-add-fonts=/usr/openwin/lib/X11/fonts'
will be overridden by the pgksrc Makefile.

- Search for system fonts in some standard locations even with modular X11.
