 Sounds logical. \n doesn't work with sed in DragonFly:
 
 $ echo foofoo | sed 's/foo/foo\n/g'
 foonfoon
 $
 
 But I'm sure that DragonFly isn't the only one - it doesn't work with sed 
 in OpenBSD base either.
