This is similar to how gschem, et al behave as described in pkg/38357.

Build mplayer on MacOS X 10.4.11 PPC.
Attempt to run mplayer.

I don't have a G3/MPC750-based MacOS X 10.4.11 system set up anymore
so I can't test if non-G4 MacOS X 10.4.11 PPC works.
