gettext-tools pulls in libintl from devel/gettext-lib,
which is dependent on libcharset from converters/libiconv

unfortunately, though gettext's buildlink pulls in iconvs' buildlink,
LIBS is not getting set with -lcharset, so the package fails during 
the configure phase

hacking in 

LIBS+=-lcharset into the converters/libiconv/buildlink3.mk file

kludges around the problem here

reported by me and in thread entitled 'gettext-tools configure error'
reported 1/2008 - both systems were linux based so might be platform dependent.

due to interactions with libtool, automake, pkgsrc, etc. I was
unable to figgure out a 'proper' fix & submit a patch so far..
