 X11_TYPE is not set.  I'm using the stock XFree86 included in 4.0.
 
 I think the problem resulted from some things being out of phase and
 possibly stale work directories.  After deleteing EVERYTHING and starting
 over again, all affected packages built and installed correctly.
 
 I think this PR can be closed.  Sorry for the noise.
