 The problem still exists in screen 4.0.3 from pkgsrc-2007Q4 on NetBSD 4.0,
 and the provided patches fix it. Note that I do not have to set TERM=vt100 
 before starting screen as described by Olaf, it seems that this part of
 the problem has already been fixed.
 
 Please commit those patches.
